On January 25, 1941, Pope Pius XII established the Diocese of Honolulu, building upon the foundation provided by the extraordinary accomplishments of early missionaries. The Diocese of Honolulu is one of the most diverse dioceses in the United States and is unique for its island geography.
Today, the diocese includes 66 parishes, 26 missions and several other places of worship where 90 priests minister to over 250,000 Catholics. There are 33 Catholic schools in the diocese, including 25 elementary schools, seven high schools and one university.
